Target: By 2030, provide access to safe, affordable, accessible, and sustainable transport systems for all, improving road safety, notable by expanding public transport, with special attention to the needs of those in vulnerable situations, women, children, persons with disabilities and older persons.
Activity 1: Electronic ticketing system for local and sub-urban buses
Objective and outcome:
1. Hassle free public transportation for consumers using electronic ticketing system.
2. Improvement in revenue generation
3. Cashless transportation for consumers by the use of app-based and smart card transaction
4. Bus monitoring using GPS services
5. Command and control center for bus monitoring, route planning and distribution, accident and breakdown monitoring, traffic violation control.
6. Customer grievance addressing which ensures customer satisfaction on public bus transport.
Activity 2: Implementation of Gyan Deepika scheme of Govt of Assam by awarding e-scooters to girl students who have secured first division in the HS examination in the year 2018
Objective and outcome :
1. Targeted for women empowerment and encouraging higher studies for meritorious girl students.
2. Environment friendly and sustainable mode of transportation
3. Encouraging confidence in the minds of girl students to believe in their abilities and work towards more success.
Activity 3: Procured 15 electric buses under the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid &) Electric Vehicles in India (FAMEi-I) Scheme of DHI, Govt of India.
Objective and outcomes:
1. 15 Electric buses under FAMEi-I scheme of DHI, Govt. of India has been launched on 4- Nov, 2019.
2. These buses are being operated in Guwahati.
3. Contributing towards “Swachh Kamakhya – Clean & Green Technology”.
4. These buses are state of the art and have facilities like GPS, convenient ticketing system, reduced noise, zero emission etc.
5. Preserving air quality in the Kamrup Metropolitan district.
Activity 4: Applied 100 electric buses under FAMEi-II scheme of Govt of India
Objective and outcomes:
1. 100 buses will be distributed in the state of Assam
2. Due to zero emission, these buses will not contribute to any environment pollution.
3. These buses are state of the art and have facilities like air condition, GPS, convenient ticketing system, reduced noise, zero emission etc.
4. Improving the public transportation and lifestyle of citizens of Assam.
Activity 5: Conducted Electric Mobility Forums in the year 2018 and 2019 to promote investment opportunities, encourage electric mobility for all modes of public transportation
Objective and outcomes:
1. Assam is one of the front runners in the electric bus transportation implementor in India and first in the North East.
2. These forums have encouraged other smaller modes of public transportation such as E-rickshaws.
3. Encouraging the sector of charging infrastructure and use of renewable energy for battery charging
4. Promoting entrepreneurship in many sectors such as battery manufacturing, parts manufacturing, training infrastructure etc.
5. Pioneering in the realization and adoption of clean and green mode of transport.
Activity 6: Setting up CNG outlets in Assam
Objective and outcomes:
1. CNG is a fuel which reduces harmful emission compared to HSD.
2. Assam is encouraging CNG based transportation
3. First CNG Retail Outlet in North East India is commissioned at Dibrugarh, Assam on 17th August, 2019.
4. Considering the fact that Assam is a known producer of oil and natural gas, more CNG outlets are being planned
5. The standard of public bus transportation will greatly improve which will have its impact on citizen lifestyle.
6. The air quality will improve.
Activity 7: Rooftop solar panels at the ASTC premises
Objective and outcomes:
1. This is to use renewable energy to generate electricity to run the ASTC premises across Assam. Moreover, the excess electricity will be supplied to the Grid.
2. Make Assam reach in terms of energy conservation
Activity 8: Various internal initiatives which have an impact on the society
8.1 Implementation of PRANAM Bill
Objective and outcomes:
1. Recognizing the elderly parents of the ASTC staff
2. Increasing goodwill of the state transport department in the state
3. Motivating the ASTC employees to work more sincerely which will help in providing better service to the citizen.
8.2 Setting up “Super 30”, a coaching center to prepare children from the low-income group of employees for competitive exams.
Objective and outcomes:
1. Idea to help children of employees who earn a salary of Rs. 20,000 or less by providing them coaching to prepare for higher studies and competitive exams.
2. Making sure the corporation cares for the children of all the employee and helping them study.
Activity 9: Special facilities for Persons with Disabilities (PWD) and Women
9.1 Special facilities for Persons with Disabilities
Objectives and outcomes:
1. 297 buses are made accessible.
2. Free travel facility provided.
3. 30 Bus Terminals are made accessible.
4. Certain seats in ASTC are reserved for the PWDs.
9.2 Special facilities for Women
Objectives and outcomes:
1. Certain seats are reserved for women passengers in ASTC City Buses.
2. GPS tracking along with Panic Buttons are provided in around 300 buses of ASTC for safety of women.
